All Walks Are Lead By The Caistor Civic Society.

 

The Town Trail (Approx. 2 hours)

A fascinating stroll through the town’s conservation area we talk about the Great Fire, learn the secret of the Tower of Caistor and the connection of Caistor House with 10 Downing Street! Walk up Lucy’s lane, see the home guard cottage and much more. 

The Butter Market Walk (Approx. 45 mins)

See the old sessions house, new heritage centre, 19C fire station, charming old folk’s bungalows with their own unique water feature and an old but still vibrant grammar school. 

Church Square Walk (Approx. 40 mins)

A gentle stroll around the Parish Church, through the peaceful “wild area”, see the Roman Wall, the former Tithe Barn and the oldest Grammar school in Lincolnshire which is still used as a Grammar school!

The Cornhill walk (Approx. 50 mins)

We talk about the Market Place before the encroachment of buildings and about the Great Fire of Caistor in 1681.

See the tower of Caistor and the National School, Wesleyan Chapel 1842, police station 1855, a fine Georgian house and some sympathetic new development.

A short tour for wheelchair users (Approx. 30 mins)

An interesting tour around the centre of Caistor with a little extra push if needed.
